Eastenders

In the Eastenders episode i watched the story was mainly based on the Massod family.
I felt that I could respond emotionally toAmira's character as she seemed to be a persistent person who was trying to get her point across even though no one was listening to her. in the end she ended up with nothing in the result to trusting Yusef who not only betrade her but Zainab, I don't really think it would be hard to play a person from this nationality as this may be almost how they live at home. it almost gives us insight to how people of that culture may live but obviously this programme would add more drama to the equation.

In this episode the whole Massod family find out that Yusef had faked the DNA test and framed a gay man made Christian by making it seem like he had something to do with the wrong results. In this three shot you can see how hurt ALL the characters are and i think that it was a good technique that they used.
I personally think that the audience did feel some kind of sympathy for the family and i think that most people did want Yusef to get caught at some point for his manipulation.

I believe that the creates and everyone who did participate in the making did want their audiences to respond in a certain way as they did a lot of close ups to show the emotion on everyones faces and also had long shots so you were able to see the distance everyone kept from Yusef, makin you feel like none of them wanted anything to do with him.

I think all the characters in this story was quite believable as it really did relate to there culture and there are evil people around.

Funding opportiunities

There are many different funding opportunities out there for people who are trying to get into the filming industry. There are loans available, government grants, Tax schemes, tax shelters, UK Film Council and BFI.

 The UK Film Council use to fund filming projects until early April 2001 “responsibilities for ensuring that the economic, cultural and educational aspects of film are effectively represented at home and abroad transfer to the British Film Institute (BFI) and Film London.”

Loans you can obviously get from banks etc.

You could apply for a government grants. The government would give you the money as it would benefit them in multiple ways. You can also get sponsored by different people.

My horror movie

Last lesson my partner and I presented a prezi presentation on our horror movie ideas and we were able to share our ideas and get feedback from our peers.


We both had done research on where we would like to do most of our filming and even took pictures. We are hoping to use the darkness to our advantage as most people did point out to us that some effects that we may be hoping to do may not work out to the lack of equipment and special effects. We also may need to look into getting back up actors just incase someone some people cant turn up or any other problems and I believe we may need to play around with lighting and settings before we shot the actual footage to get the best quality possible.

I believe we have a good story line and that we have explained the plot quite well as we didn't have any complains about that. We just need to be aware of our limits, and know what we can and cant do.

I hope the weather doesn't effect us in any bad way, and hope that our film does appeal to our target audience as we haven't based it on the modern films that are coming out now as we have not chosen little kids to act in our film but teenagers which we hope would give our audience the 'uneasy feeling' as it is more close to home/ more likely to happen to them.

My Prelim Task

This is my second attempt of filming. This time I was able to add music and play around with the audio giving me a better understanding of how it works. This is very helpful for me as I would be able to use the techniques I have learnt in my final peice. Below is my film



Things I would expect to see in the first two minutes of a film

The things I would expect in the first two minutes of a horror film would be a great story opening so everyone would be able to understand what is going on, rather than being confuse of what’s happening until the middle. However this is a technique that is used in most horrors and thrillers which help them to keep suspense going throughout the film, for example Mirrors and let me in.

I would also expect to have a good understanding of the main character and the characters around them (how the extra characters help the main character/characters tell the story). So you would know what to expect later on in the film and I would also like to see a stable setting, meaning I would like to know how the area corresponded to the story line.

 

In addition to that, I would expect to see at lot of darkness, blood and distorted images. The darkness creates a sense of venerability, and fear as you wouldn't be able to see whats coming or whats going on, whilst the blood represents death in its own way as everyone needs blood to survive, and if a large amount of blood is seen it saws people that someone or a great deal of people has been killed or tortured. And distorted makes everything feel unbalanced and gives the impression that something is wrong. 

Other things you may see would be disturbing freaky images like the picture on the right for example. The smile is out of place as he should be in a great deal of pain which makes you feel really unsettled. This is used in many horrors and thrillers, which may be a useful image to use in my work as it should make viewers feel unease. Another thing is to scare people when they are not expecting it.

Music helps give an uneasy atmosphere and builds tension. Also gives a warning that something may happen, mainly stringed instruments.

My first green screen experience

Today was my first time using a green screen. This was an amazing experience and I think I would be able to improve a great lot if I would be able to use an actual green screen as with this green background we were not able to remove all of it successfully due to the different tones and shades it had, and we may have needed better lighting as the shadows did not help. This obviously being a first experience can be seen as a learning cob and I believe this would be a great technique to use for my film opening.

My survey results

40% of the people who did my survey where male and the remaining percentage was female.
most of them being within the 16-20 age group. Ranging to watching movies almost every day to one a year. The majority of people did say everyday. All of the people who participated all watch horror movies and 100% of them adore comedy, which could help me to make an interesting twist to my final project. A low percentage of people (25%) where scared of ghost so I don't think i should go down that route.

All the people who did do my survey, all had different responses to the questions that let them make there own answers,which didn't really help but they have given me slight insight to what they want as individuals
